Make time for what matters.
West Lake is more than one stop
West Lake covers a broad area. A boat ride, a lakeside walk and sunset viewing are different choices. Start with a short shoreline section and a rest stop when travelling with older relatives; boat routes and operation need confirmation.
Ask what the tea visit includes
A tea-plantation visit, tasting, leaf-picking and a making workshop are different activities. Season, availability and cost vary. A plantation stop does not automatically include a workshop; clarify any sales component before confirming.
Choose a base around your plans
Compare access to the lake, your station and the next city rather than choosing on the words “lake view” alone. Check the exact room category, breakfast and convenient vehicle access.
Plan an alternative
Alternate outdoor scenery with indoor breaks. If weather changes, check ticket and transport flexibility before changing the order or substituting an activity. Keep an indoor alternative that does not require a long walk.

Shanghai, beyond the skyline
Look across the river from the Bund, then slow down over a neighbourhood meal. Make room for both the landmarks and the city between them.
