A little preparation goes a long way.
Language, documents and travel interests deserve separate questions.
Start with the reason for the journey
A first introduction, a return after many years and sightseeing around a family visit need different plans. Not every overseas Chinese family is seeking ancestral roots. Ask each person for one priority before building a shared route.

Mixed-document families
Relatives may hold passports from different countries or other travel documents. Check entry, ticketing and hotel details individually. One person’s visa exemption does not cover the whole group; document categories are enough for an initial enquiry.
Language and interpretation
Children may not follow a long explanation in Chinese, while older relatives may prefer it to English. Discuss bilingual communication, shorter explanations or interactive experiences, subject to available people and activities.
Include the family visit itself
Family gatherings, pickups and transfers all take time. Fix the immovable dates first, then add sightseeing. Avoid repeated hotel changes just to squeeze in another city.
