A little preparation goes a long way.
Compare the exact room and location, not just a star label.
Start with room allocation
For four adults, discuss two rooms and bed types first. Family rooms, connecting rooms and extra beds cannot be assumed. Mark proximity requests as either confirmed or requested. Children’s ages affect hotel occupancy, breakfast and bedding rules.
Look beyond the promotional photograph
Request photos of the proposed room, including shower access and any steps. Photos alone do not confirm accessibility, slip resistance or sound insulation. Check those needs directly. A lobby view does not establish a room’s view.
Choose a location that serves the itinerary
For afternoon breaks, consider access from that day’s visits. For independent dinners, check nearby dining and the return journey. Inside-scenic-area accommodation can still involve walking or shuttles. Verify luggage access and drop-off arrangements.
Compare like for like
Compare name, address, room category, beds, breakfast, nights, cancellation terms and outstanding requests. If a hotel is not yet confirmed, explain when it will be and what replacement criteria apply. Website imagery is not a room confirmation.
